Psychology for Everyone

Amritabindu Upanishad, verse 2

The mind alone is the cause of bondage and of freedom for human beings. Attached to objects it binds; free of objects it is remembered as liberation.

मन एव मनुष्याणां कारणं बन्धमोक्षयोः ।
बन्धाय विषयासक्तं मुक्त्यै निर्विषयं स्मृतम् ॥

mana eva manusyanam karanam bandha-moksayoh |
bandhaya visayasaktam muktyai nirvisayam smrtam ||

The mind alone is the cause of bondage and of freedom for human beings. Attached to objects it binds; free of objects it is remembered as liberation.

This verse offers deep spiritual meaning, but it is not a medical protocol. If a mind is suffering from a severe illness, reading a verse alone is not enough to heal it. Instead, this ancient wisdom is meant to walk side-by-side with modern medicine, professional therapy, proper sleep, and a supportive community. It gives you the "why" for healing, while medicine gives you the "how."
